Preventative vs. Reactive Measures

Last week I got the pleasure to work with school districts that were taking preventative measures to keep schools from becoming schools “in need of improvement.”

The schools were targeted based on their current scores and subgroup data and provided time and funds to create district and school plans to PREVENT the school from going into a “needs improvement” status.

The seminars presented walked them through looking at data, root causes, developing action steps, benchmarking goals and what to look for in quality classroom visits.

They are being set up for success. I left there wondering how this could happen in more states across the nation…more states need to adopt this process.

These schools have two years to take action now to ensure ALL students in ALL subgroups are getting a quality education.
